Elevator Tracker: Frequently Asked Questions
- Why can't I sign up?
The application is in beta and hasn't yet been opened to users. Please check back soon!
- Why isn't my building listed?
Please email us
- Why is(n't) my building "verified"?
A building is "verified" if its location has been confirmed against a city dataset. If your building isn't verified, it may be due to discrepancies in the address or location data. Please email us.
- What is the "Elevator ID"?
When reporting an outage, you need to identify which elevator is affected. You can use either:
- Car Number - A building-assigned letter or number (e.g., "2", or "S1") usually noted on the door jamb. This distinguishes elevators within the same building. Not to be confused with floor number!
- Capacity Plate - A plate indicating the elevator's weight capacity (e.g., "2500 lbs") which may also includes a unique identifier.
- Gov't of BC ID - A province-assigned registration number (e.g., "2364") typically found on the control panel near the alarm/help buttons.
Example car number plate.
